Does all insurance companies cover other people that are not on the policy?

July 17, 2010 - 4:23 pm 13 Comments

Can other people drive your car legally if they are not on your insurance policy with any insurance company?

Most insurance companies allow what is called permissive use of a vehicle, provided that person does not live at the same residence and does not drive the vehicle more than 12 times in a year (going to the store and back is considered 2 times). I would check with your individual insurance company for their exact rules. Also if a person is going to stay with you for a few weeks and you want to add them to your policy you can for just the period of time that they are there and you will only pay a prorated portion of the increase to premium if there is any.

Response to answer #1 – insurance follows the vehicle not the the driver, if you borrow a car from somebody and have a wreck the owner of the vehicles insurance pays for the damages, the only time this does not apply is when you rent a vehicle, then your insurance will cover that vehicle

Do pet’s have to get APPROVED for pet insurance? Or do all insurance companies take them?

July 17, 2010 - 4:23 pm 2 Comments

I was just wondering if I were to apply for pet insurance, if it works like regular human health insurance. I have a 7 yr old english bulldog. I believe his age is beginning to take a toll on him (arthritis, hip dysplasia, etc.). Plus he’s been lonely and I’m also planning to get another bulldog to keep him company (preferably another old one) Is it too late to apply? Is it even worth it?

All pets for almost any pet insurance company will need to be approved by their underwriting department first before offering you a policy, if one at all. Medical records will be requested from your vet(s) to see what the insurance company is getting itself into. If the pet is too much of a risk, they can either deny coverage all together or offer a policy with increased premiums. If a policy is offered, the current medical problems will never be covered (=pre-existing) and neither would any other genetic issues. Some companies will add a surcharge for particular breeds with increased health problems (even if healthy right now) and an English Bulldog would definitely fit that bill. Each company sets up different guidelines with regards to age – some will not write you a policy at all after a certain age while others will surcharge a pet beyond a certain age. Each pet insurance company is a little different from the other so the best way to get answers is to contact each directly. Sometimes the sales people will be able to answer your questions but ultimately, the underwriting departments have final determination on all pets.

By making it illegal for insurance companies to turn away clients, will they all eventually go bankrupt?

July 17, 2010 - 4:16 pm 7 Comments

And we will all have to be on the public option with second-rate heathcare, and dependent on the gov’t for our lives, just like the socialists intended?

No my making it illegal for insurance company to turn away bad clients will force them to raise their rates forcing the whole to pay for the bad clients.

It’s like taking on dead weight, everyone has to work harder to keep pull it.

Does all the insurance companies offer a car while your is not working?

I recently was involve in a car accident and I need the car I have Mercury insurance do they paid fro a rental car?

Mercury Insurance does provide rental, provided it is added to your policy and you have full coverage (ie, comprehensive and collision coverage). If the other person was at fault, their insurance would need to pay for your rental car, although it may be on a reimbursement basis.

Depending on where your vehicle is being fixed, you may want to ask them, they might be able to set you up with a loaner or direct you to an inexpensive rental place.

Do all insurance companies have a 15% deductible for earthquake?

July 17, 2010 - 4:16 pm 3 Comments

In Los angeles,CA?

We are with travelers, they have a 15% deductible, was wondering if other insurance companies have a better number? (better for us that is)

thanks! & May god bless your life!

That might be normal for your area. I’ve seen it as low as 5%, but not in California.

It’s always going to be a percentage . . but the only way to get a real answer, is asking your agent. Travelers agents also represent other companies . . . so ask them, do you have any companies that offer a lower earthquake deductible.

Best wishes.

How long until all health insurance companies go bankrupt?

Since you can pay $1000 to the federal government and just buy insurance when you need it why would anyone pay over $1000 a year for insurance?

At the risk of sounding cynical, sarcastic or both, probably never. After all, the government will have to bail them out because they will be "too big to fail".

What pet insurance companies pay the veterinarian directly? All I can find is ones that reimburse you.?

July 17, 2010 - 4:12 pm 2 Comments

I’ve found the pet insurance companies that reimburse you for the veterinarian bills, but I was wondering if anyone knew of any companies that paid the veterinarian directly?

In the US, pet insurance is a type of indemnity insurance which means it works on the reimbursement model. All pet insurance companies will reimburse you after you pay the bill. The up-side of this is that you can go to any vet you want and not be limited to a selective list of clinics.

However, I have heard of some companies that will send the check directly to the vet in certain circumstances. I have my dog insured with Trupanion, and know that in some cases, they will pay the vet directly, but I think it’s just for really large bills (?).
You’d have to talk to each insurer individually, but probably some of them would be willing to make special arrangements in some cases.

does insurance companies look at Acedemic GPA or All around GPA?

July 17, 2010 - 4:12 pm 2 Comments

Do car insurance companies look at all around gpa or academic? as in do they count the sport or just your academic classes.

this is for a high school student by the way.
also this is for the 3.0 GPA discount.
i have state farm insurance also.

Every insurance company has their own underwriting policies/. They would ordinarily, however, tend to look at the cumulative GPA.

How did we allow the government to bail out all these banking and insurance companies?

July 17, 2010 - 4:07 pm 6 Comments

I dont understand how we just allowed the government to spend trillions of dollars to spend on their friends who messed up, how did we allow this, yet 50 million people have no health insurance and the Republican solution is "socialism is evil!" No handouts!"

But how were they allowed to spend all this money and get away with it, why isnt there like a revolution in the streets or people burning down buildings in Washington, that is our tax dollars and our future they are spending that money on, we are the ones to get screwed

We did not allow it, the American Plutocracy just did it.

Plutocracy – a wealthy social class that controls or greatly influences the government of a society.

"The powers of financial capitalism had a far-reaching plan, nothing less than to create a world system of financial control in private hands able to dominate the political system of each country and the economy of the world as a whole…
Their secret is that they have annexed from governments, monarchies, and republics the power to create the world’s money…".
