How long do I have to file a claim with my auto insurance company?

I backed into a tree in April and damaged the rear of my car – about 3k worth of damage. I haven’t filed a claim with my insurance company yet and my policy expires Aug 17th. I’ve already renewed the policy for another six months with the same company. Is there a time limit for filing claims?

For physical damage claims like this there usually isn’t a set time limit for reporting. The policy usually just states that a claim can be denied for late reporting, and just how late you have to be to be considered "late" is up to the insurance company’s discretion. the fact that you renewed your policy probably won’t really help things, all that matters to the insurance company is whether the policy was in effect at the date and time of the claim, and what their definition of "late reporting" is.

I hear the radio commericals and see them on TV all the time. The position is for Admin/CSR, but i’ll also need to be bonded, which is fine. Basicially I’ll be selling insurance to new customers, and renewing old – all with a very good base. Is this a good company to work for? Opinions?

What company is it? You would have to post the name of the company to get some opinions.

And, is it an independent agent or a broker or a call center? And, do you have an insurance license? You need one in order to sell insurance. If it is Primerica then run away from that company. It is a scam.

I had tire tread fly into my car on the highway. Tore the bumper and smashed the condenser. The insurance company has after market parts on the estimate, but I want to sell this car someday and want OEM. I’m pretty sure I am out of luck, but just wanted to make sure as this is my first time dealing with an incident. Thanks.

When you go to sell the car they wont’ care about the OEM parts. If you go to a dealer to trade the car in, they will see work is done. Right there they will assume the worst. You can fight yoru insurance company. Get an estimate on your own and see if they will pay for it or meet you half way.

My son got into a car accident in 2007. The plaintif sued him in the small claim court. The judge ordered my son to pay him.The insursnce company agreed to pay the full amount,but they never did.Sometime they say that he changed his address,or he never received the check, or he is not satisfied.Now for more than one year my son’s driver’s license is suspended. I was hit by an uninsured driver, and my insurance company covers me for up to $3500 in damages, but they want me to take my car in and they’ll reimburse the mechanic. Is it possible to just get the cash and pay for it myself?

If the vehicle has a lien holder (if you’re making payments on it), they have a legal obligation to protect the financial interest of that lien holder, therefore they cannot pay you directly. If you insist on a cash payout, you will have to have the lien holder sign off on the check (they will be listed as a second party on the payment) before you put it in your bank. The reason why the insurance offered to just pay the body shop directly is because legally they can do that instead of adding the lien holder as a second payee. Insurance companies know that getting a lien holder to sign off on a payment can be a hassle for you, not to mention take a lot of time.

The insurance company said that I have a choice between picking the insurance company to repair my car or taking it to a auto shop of my choice and letting them fix it and the insurance company will take car of it.

I dont know what to do. Should I take it to my insurance company auto shop or to my auto shop I usually go to get repairs? I’m thinking the insurance company will try to pay the least amount to fix my car and will not do quality work… I don’t know.. I’m confused on this.

if you go to yours you are the one hiring to do the job if you go to the ins company one they will be in charge and the shop will not listen to what you have to say

Why do auto insurance company need your date of birth and a Credit check before getting insurance?

My wife is annoyed at the fact as am I that first auto insurance is so damn high for women. Also we are annoyed at why they now want personal info like your date of birth and credit check. Why is it that it is this way? I think it is Stupid for credit checks always have.

Some places do not check your credit. Here’s the reasons they ask for and require the info depending on the company. Date of birth will classify the applicant in age groups that "show" how typical driver’s in that age range drive, how many accidents they have reported, as well as other driving habits. As far as the credit check goes, it’s because they want to see what type of payment history you have. If you have good credit, and pay on time, they will give you better rates sometimes. If you have poor credit, miss payments all the time, etc. They will most times not insure you. I myself am a Licensed Life Insurance Agent in the state of Ohio. We do not pull credit for life insurance, but our agents do for the property and casualty insurance.

My car was damaged. The other vehicle was at fault. A claim has been started but the other insurance company has yet to send someone to inspect the vehicle after 1 week. I have left messages with the adjuster. No return.

How long does it usually take to get compensated after a car accident?

It all depends on the company, their policies, and any issues there may be with the claim.
If the loss just occured w/ in the last week, I can see how maybe it has taken a little longer to inspect your vehicle (remember we’ve had 2 holidays in the past week, christmas and new years)
Otherwise it should be no more than about 3 working days for someone to inspect your car.

As far as how long until you are paid for the damages……. If there are no issues with the claim and they accept full liability, you should expect a check within a week or so after the inspection of your car.

If the adjuster is not returning you calls, call the 800# for the company and get the operator on the line, then ask to speak with the supervisor for your adjuster.

I’m an 18 year old male driver, no previous accidents or tickets, therefore no points on my license. I drive an SUV. I currently have State Farm and my premium is extremely high, it’s about 1400 every 6 months. I’m looking for a cheap insurance company, not really worried about good coverage just a lower price.

You need to shop around. They all calculate their rates differently so the best company for me might not be the best one for you.

I need general information concerning auto insurance complanies that pay claims directly to the driver. They want me to absorb all costs (repairs, rental, etc.) and then they will issue me a "reimbursement" check. I don’t want reimbursed for something that their insured driver did to me! I just want them to cover all costs associated with the claim! What, if any, legal action can I take to have the matter proceed in my favor?

File it through your ins co. You will pay the deduct but your ins will cover the costs and get reimbursement from the other ins co.
