Obama says there needs to be competition with health insurance companies.?

July 17, 2010 - 12:51 am 9 Comments

So why doesn’t he try to dismantle the government regulations that LIMIT competition? Such as the fact that it is illegal to buy insurance from across state lines. Or the fact that some companies have to cover certain pre existing conditions. All that does is make it harder for smaller companies to start up and compete. It is an unfair advantage to the big companies who got big by not having to adhere to those same regulations. Why doesn’t he allow the states to each try their own systems? Then we would have 50 different systems to compare instead of just forcing everyone in america under one. More importantly, since Obama feels he can run an insurance company for far cheaper than current ones, insure everyone regardless of pre existing conditions, and never deny a claim, why doesn’t he start up a company immediately and start helping people right now, people who want to be helped, rather than force his one system on everyone in 3 years?
If I am a nun why should I have to purchase insurance that is legally forced to cover abortions? Shouldn’t the government get out of the situation and allow me to buy cheaper insurance that covers only what I want?
Also, how does forcing everyone to buy health insurance from health insurance companies increase competition? All that does is give the companies an ever lasting supply of customers. No need to please customers or respond to their needs when they are legally forced to do business with you.
Wyld fire- Obama is not trying to do what I said. He is not reducing government regulations that limit competition. He is increasing government regulations that will help big insurance companies remain in power and have less competition. And everyone will be forced to pay for and be effected by his "public option".
wyld fire- The current insurance companies are not private. There is heavy regulation of the health insurance industry.

When Obama says at one speech event for Planned Parenthood that "reproductive choice" will be covered by Obamacare, then publicly states it will not, along with coverage for illegal aliens (without stating exactly how they will be DENIED care then), then I would not trust another word as being "truth" from this man. His own WH Communications Director, Anita "Fox News Lies" Dunne, has publicly voiced her admiration for Chairman Mao! The whole title of the bill, "Health care reform", is a lie anyways; it is "health insurance reform" so it deals primarily with who gets the money. The Big Lie is that it is for the benefit of the American People when it is a further grab through regulation and control of our nation’s institutions. The government already controls 25% and, with a reconciliation vote with 51 votes, it will control 48%… there are two words for the Obama Administration: L-I-A-R and socialism.

Do medical insurance and tobacco companies own Fred Thompson ?

July 17, 2010 - 12:50 am 4 Comments

In 2001 Thompson voted against a bill allowing patients to sue health insurance providers. In 1998 he voted against increasing tobacco restrictions, and in 1996 he voted against health care savings accounts.

New license and new car rx350 ‘09… whats reasonable insurance price?

July 17, 2010 - 12:50 am 4 Comments

I am a new driver (22) and I purchased an rx350 ‘09… The insurance premium came to about 1k a month which is way too high and I can’t afford… I tried calling other insurance companies to compare but they couldn’t give me a quote because I had to be atleast a year driving before they can give me an estimate price.

So I would like to know if I am being ripped off or is the price about right?

It is too expensive…
You can try this company – http://autoinsurance.hotusa.org – I personally have their car insurance.
As I know they have more affordable insurance policies for teens and first time drivers.

Have you rated your Insurance Company lately ?

July 17, 2010 - 12:50 am 2 Comments

I just came across this link earlier where you can rate the insurance company and even leave comments . . . i dont know how useful the rating system is, like i dont know if it will ever get back to the companies themselves or if they would even care that people were leaving feedback on them. But it would probably help others in choosing insurance here is the link http://www.compareusinsurance.com/compare_rate_review_insurance/

a better place to look for a good Company is on JD Power & Associates website. they will rank the companies by policy type. good source!

Why is the co-pay for dental insurance more expensive than health insurance?

July 17, 2010 - 12:46 am 6 Comments

I compared the co pays on several reputable dental insurance companies and it is very expensive. Many things are not covered, even with the best dental insurance. Health insurance is usually a 10 dollar co pay for primary physicians and a 35-50 dollar co pay for specialty physicians. Is there any reason why dental insurance co pay is as expensive as it is?

Actually, the only time the copays are so low for health insurance is when you’re dealing with those high-dollar plans provided by a lot of employers. (At least those are the types of plans that were provided be employers in the past; that’s changing significantly because of the cost involved.) Trust me, these are FAR from the "norm."

As for dental insurance, the fact is that there are nearly as many organized networks for dental providers as there are for medical providers (where belonging to as many networks as possible is the best way to ensure you keep new clients coming in to your practice.) Dental insurance, by comparison to what you pay for medical coverage (particularly of the variety you mention) is also CHEAP. And I don’t know very many people who would pay triple the price for dental insurance so they could get the $10 copay. In the end, it’s really that simple.

Accidental Death Insurance to cover home – to purchase or not to purchase?

July 17, 2010 - 12:46 am 9 Comments

I bought my first home in Aug-2008. I keep getting a lot of offers in the mail for accidental death insurance to cover my home. Is this coverage that is recommended as a must have or is it a scam? How do you know how to compare companies?

Accidental Death Insurance provides very limited protection for the cost. You would be much better served purchasing a Term Life Insurance Product for the money. I advise that you sit down with a life insurance agent or financial planner that represents various companies so that they can run a Financial Needs Analysis (a review to determine how much coverage you need) and then provide you with a few options and the costs. I would also have them review if you have sufficient coverage to protect your income, i.e. Disability Insurance.

I hope this helps. Good Luck!

What car insurance do you recommend?

July 17, 2010 - 12:45 am 13 Comments

There’s probably 100’s of car insurance companies. What do you have? Are you happy with it? How do the rates compare? How do you get treated after a claim? Ever dealt with those advertised on TV? Who have you had bad experiences with?

Geico.

They have great rates and their customer service is somewhat fair. I am working at chiropractic clinic and we deal with many auto accident cases and the Geico handles the claims very professionally and quickly.

I am not going to use an insurance quote?

July 17, 2010 - 12:42 am 2 Comments

I have been working with 2 business insurance companies and I have been comparing quotes between the two of them. They have both put in a lot of work. I want to tell company #1 tactfully that I do not need her services. How do I do this?

Thanks, but we’ve decided to go with another company.
