why is health insurance cost higher for smaller companies compared to larger companies?

July 17, 2010 - 12:26 am 4 Comments

It has to do with spreading risk, which is what insurance companies do.

If you are an employer with 10 employees, it takes only one catastrophic claim to wipe out and exceed the amount collected in premiums.

If you 20,000 employees, you may have more total claims but less risk of loosing money due to the really big claims.

Do you mean long-term care insurance?
If that is what you are talking about, I’m a fan of Northwestern Mutual. If you are strictly shopping price on this plan make sure that you understand the coverages that you are getting. Here is an article on LTC – http://www.findlocalinsurance.com/long-term-care.html

this is a project for school & need to compare insurances about 4 i need to know how much each company covers?

July 17, 2010 - 12:26 am 2 Comments

i need know the coverage of a 1)Normal birth vs emergency
2)Prenatal Care
3)Postnatal care for the mother
4)postnatal care for infant
5)Prescription and prenatal vitamins
6) Length of hospital stay
7)Neonatal of follow up care
8)intensive unit care
for four insurance companies please help!

I have PacifiCare insurance. It covers my OB care (prenatal and postnatal) 100% (I don’t even have to pay my usual $15 co-pay). If I have a son I will need to pay $200 if I want him circumcised. I’m not sure about post-natal care for the baby. By the time my baby is born, s/he will be on my husbands insurance, not mine, and his covers everything 100% minus the $10 co-pays. My prescriptions are either $10 or $15 depending on generic and name brand. I am allowed 3 days in the hospital.

Compare Auto Insurance Online?

I friends tells me that I should find my auto insurance online instead of calling the insurance companies.

Do you guys know if that is the way to go. Do they offer the same deals online. One the phone I might be able to talk my way to a good deal.
How does it work and how long does it take if I want the check with all the available companies.

You will have to find that out yourself I am afraid,.. this is because we are all different, drive different cars, live in different places and pay different prices

Is it possible to cancel the signature of auto insurance for new car?

July 17, 2010 - 12:22 am 3 Comments

Hello,

I have just bought a new car in a Toyota car dealer: They have found for me an insurance for the car, comparing with different insurance companies. But now at home, I am trying a quote with Geico, and it seems that I could probably get a better price with this company (not completely sure, I need to call them).
Is it possible to cancel my signature as I did not receive the policy yet ? and I did not get my car yet (but tomorrow) ?
I don’t know if here in USA we have the possibility during some days (one week for example) to retract ourself….
Thanks for information.
but is it possible not to start to pay a new car insurance and to change for another one….
I have paid totally my car by cash, and I will take it probably tomorrow. I have signed all the documents for the car insurance today…. but I am hesitation to contact Geico company since they seem to do better price for me….. I don’t know if is possible to change right now….. and to cancel the first insurance (already paid for one full year).

This is going to be very lengthy so forgive me. Lots of people make big mistakes in situations just like these.

YES, that policy can be canceled and you can even request a back-date cancellation. This will make the policy as if it never existed which means you’ll get the full amount of premium back. You’ll just need to ask them specifically for a backdate cancellation and tell them that it’s because you didn’t take posession of the vehicle. That’s the only way they’ll do it.

As for this other policy with Geico, yes. Get it started up! But here’s your hanger:

You aren’t going to get the money you paid the other insurance company back in time to spin that money around to pay Geico, not unless you contact them the same day that the money is taken. With most places, the payment has already been processed. They’ll have to send you a refund which generally takes 7-14 days. As you can see, this will put you in a little bit of a bind since you’re going to have to pay Geico to start the policy to take posession of the vehicle or leave this other policy in force.

My advice to you?

Go on and cancel that other company just ASAP, ask for backdate cancellation. Pay Geico for the first month (provided you’re not completely broke by now), then send that money from the refund in to Geico to pay for the rest of your policy period.

When it comes to the amount of time you have to retract yourself, the ONLY way you can do that is if you didn’t have the vehicle yet.. and that’s only because no service was actually used during the time that you had that policy. You didn’t drive a car, and you didn’t drive the car that they had insured. If you already had the vehicle, then they have every right to keep a portion of that premium you paid since they technically were covering you for risks while you had the vehicle.

Does that make sense?

Compare car insurance with health insurance, car insurance is a law, health insurance isn’t why?

July 17, 2010 - 12:21 am 5 Comments

car insurance is a law right? and I know a lot of people that have a very difficult time paying car insurance since it’s so high, but it seems like insurance companies are making a lot of money, NOW how can we compare that to health insurance if it became a law to have to have it.
You would hope that health insurance would be more affordable since more people are putting money into the pot right, but I am afraid but it being a law, the rich (insurance companies will get richer) and raise the cost of health insurance since it’s a law.
Maybe our solution would be to have our government give us tax breaks on health insurance premiums and some how get more for our money with health insurance. It’s sad that you have to spend $500.00 a month for health insurance but still have to pay office visits and wait 6 months for preexisting problems.
Maybe the solution is to have better health insurance options, right?
Isn’t that what McCain wants?

Car insurance that is law is liability to someone else. I have a car with only liability by my choice. If I wreck it, insurance won’t fix it. Health insurance is not a liability issue and if a person chooses not to have it, it should not be law that they do.

how can i compare all life insurance products of all companies?

DO NOT SHOP ON PRICE alone. Check ratings. Only do biz with A+ rated companies or above. Also choose a company that gives you a personal agent. Never, ever, ever buy online term. I have seen many people burnt this way. As a rule , you need 7-8x your annual salary in life insurance. Buy term, and max out a Roth IRA each year. Also buy a final expense plan 8-10k. Good luck!!!

I need to compare Auto insurance in New York City.Too many companies. I need a matrix or search engine.Help?

Insurance companies scoop on value of totaled car?

July 17, 2010 - 12:17 am 2 Comments

If the market in your area is much higher then what nada is, the insurance is going to do a market analysis. How far can they legally go out. Meaning how many miles. If I am in louisiana, can they compare prices to vehicles for sale is California?

Oh yeah, I definitely think California and Louisiana are the same market, definitely.

What car insurance companies only ask for 3 year driving history, compared to 5 years?

July 17, 2010 - 12:17 am 1 Comment

I am currently with Nationwide, have been for over 4 years now, and am looking to see if there is anything cheaper out there. The rates aren’t too bad but I’m always looking to save. I have been violation and accident free for 3 years but not quite 5 years yet. Nationwide only requires 3 years and I can’t find any others.

Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

None that I’m aware of, and some actually look back 7 years. Minor faults will not affect rates after 3 years, Duo’s after 5, and more serious things after 7.
