Will my new car insurance company find out I lied?

July 17, 2010 - 10:42 pm 5 Comments

A unique (perhaps?) situation: I have a Washington State driver’s license. I got a speeding ticket two years ago in Massachusetts (and paid it). I was driving someone else’s car when I received the ticket. I now live in Connecticut and am about to switch car insurance companies. Given the multiple states I’ve mentioned above, how likely is it that a CT insurance agent will find out about my fairly recent ticket? Thanks for your help!

There is a pretty good chance they will find out but that’s not 100% guaranteed. There is a national driver registry and if Massachusetts reported you ticket to them then the information is available.r

Do you find it right for insurance companies to earn interest off Accelerated Benefits Provisions?

July 17, 2010 - 7:23 pm 2 Comments

Hell when your dying of cancer you need all the money you can get insurance companies charge interest when you take advantage of this provision due to declining health .Kinda like AIG u get hit by a 18 wheeler ,or lose a limb in a auto accident heres some pocket change farewell.

Accelerated Benefits Provisions (or Accelerated Death Benefit) are added to most policies sold today for free. They keep critically ill patients from being forced to sell their life insurance policies for pennies on the dollar to another person just to pay their escalating medical bills. That sounds like a darn gift they didn’t have to add at all.

In most cases, the money is income tax free. The interest (not all companies charge interest for the whole period) would only add up during the time while you are still alive.

Basically, I’m saying you would be fortunate to have to pay interest because it means the money for you medical treatment is working.

Where to find a list of insurance companies?

July 17, 2010 - 5:49 pm 1 Comment

Does anyone know where I could find a large list of all insurance companies?

That’s an easy one! I bookmarked this one and use it all the time. http://list-of-insurance-companies.com/

If you still have difficulty finding a claim from insurance, it may be held by the state, in which case you should conduct an unclaimed property search. I always recommend http://www.unclaimedmoney.net to ensure you are searching the official sites.

Hope this helps.

Can they find out if I was injured in an accident 6 years ago?

Yes, they can, all injury claims are reported by the insurance companies to a thing called the Index Bureau. They will know all about the previous injury.
