There is no cheapest company you need to look around, each company take their own view based on your postcode and their opinion of that postcode and price accordingly in their own opinion for each quote.

Does anyone know who bought out Protective Home Circle Insurance Company?

July 17, 2010 - 4:13 am 1 Comment

I am looking for an insurance company known as Protective Home Circle from the 50’s my father had a life insurance policy with them. I am having trouble locating this company. Thanks for your help.

You’ve got two decent bets (I searched two databases and didn’t find it) – first, see if there is an issuing agent’s name and/or address on the policy, and see if you can find it that way. Second bet is to contact your state insurance department, see if they can track it down.

Are there any home owners insurance company’s that insure home owners with horses in the state of Florida?

July 17, 2010 - 4:08 am 2 Comments

I am looking for home owners insurance since State Farm is pulling out of Florida. I cant seem to find any that insure your home if you have horses. HELP PLEASE!

It’s not the horse that is the problem – it’s the "in Florida". EVERYONE is pulling out of Florida homeowners.

Go talk to a couple of local independent agents. But be prepared to have your coverage through Citizens – the state fund.

I would like the name of a insurance company that will give home insurance to Pitt-bull owner?

July 17, 2010 - 4:08 am 4 Comments

I have lied for years about my dogs breed to my homeowners insurance company and I know that there is some out there that will insure me with a Pitt-bull breed. If someone could please let me know what companys do, or have in the past.

I dont know of ANY company that will do this. There ARE however a FEW companies that will write you a homeowners policy and EXCLUDE the liability for the dog. that way you do not have to lie to them. by lying on your application, you have voided your contract with them and they WILL deny claims and coverage based on the false information you provided. I know Alliance Mutual is a company that will exclude dogs…see if they write in your area.

If you purchased replacement home insurance can the insurance company change it to depreciaton insurance?

July 17, 2010 - 4:08 am 4 Comments

I had a break in and purchased replacement insurance but my insurance company said that I have depreciation value. I never changed my policy and I don’t know what to do.

Any suggestions?

Many HO3 policies are sold with a replacement cost endorsement.

However, that does not mean you automatically get replacement cost for the loss.

With most policies any contents loss over $500 is paid at actual cash value (deprecation). You have 180 days from the date of loss to replace the items. When you submit the receipts showing you replaced the items, then the adjuster will pay you the amount of deprecation they with held. You will often hear an adjuster refer to this as taking a "hold back".

Check with your agent and see if this is what is going on with your claim. From the very little information you posted, I suspect it is.

Is it the agent’s job to call the home insurance company to get a policy or should i do it?

our closing will be this wednesday…everything is good …the only thing that is missing is the home insurance thanx

Some agents will help you with this but I think it is in your best interest to shop around for the best rates and coverage. Check with Consumer Reports.

HELP! which holiday home insurance company will also cover my rowing boat in the policy?

July 17, 2010 - 4:01 am 1 Comment

I’ve got a holiday home which I let out, there is also an old rowing boat for guests’ use.
We previously had it insured by Towergate who included the boat in the cover, however now they tell me they cannot include boats and I’m struggling to find any other holiday home insurer which will do this. Anyone know of any that will???
enough of the spam already!!!

Hi,

If you are l looking to insure the rowing boat for theft or damage then its unlikely that a holiday home insurance policy will cover it under the contents section.

Boats should be covered under a marine policy (boat policy) they cost about £60 a year.

However a comprehensive holiday let insurance policy should cover accidents or injury to guests whilst using rowing boats under the public liability section – although they would have to prove the owner had been negligent.

Hope this helps.

My home insurance company is asking me for a sale and/or installation documentation for my windows and other..

opening protection showing the wind speeds that the protective device can withstand. I am in Florida. Why they are asking for it after 6 months I renewed my policy and been living on that house for 1 1/2 yr? If someone can explain it to me.. please!

Well, sounds like either 1. you had a claim (or the prior owner did) or 2. the company is "reunderwriting" their homeowners book of business.

You’re in hurricane alley. They are LIKELY looking for an excuse to cancel your policy. I would knock myself out bending over backwards to dig that information up as soon as possible.

Would Greenville NC be considered by a home insurance company to be a HIGH RISK hurricane area?

July 17, 2010 - 4:01 am 1 Comment

The place got ripped up badly and flooded in 1999’s hurricane Floyd but I understand that to have been a rare occurrence of 2 hurricanes back to back. Just wondering if I would want to invest there, and whether flood insurance would be highly recommended.

Although it’s rare to have 2 hurricanes back to back, even 1 hurricane in the last decade would tell me yes, get flood insurance. Also, just call a homeowners agent to check on whether it’s in an identified flood plain. They might look that up for you for free.

My neighbor’s home insurance company won’t pay for damage done to my car when their window shutter fell off.?

July 17, 2010 - 4:01 am 5 Comments

Is there anything I can do? The weather on Friday night was horrible, and the wind was blowing at maybe 30 miles per hour. It loosened a window shutter fro my neighbor’s window which crashed onto my car. People from the insurance company came over and inspected the dent made on my car, but they said that home insurance does not cover this particular accident. Thanks in advance!

You file the claim through your car insurance.

You can only collect under your neighbor’s homeowners policy, if they are legally LIABLE. They have to have CAUSED the damage. Clearly, the WIND caused the damage, not the homeowner, so it’s not their fault.

File this under your policy!
