Insurance is up in 4 days I just made a claim. Can I still switch insurance companies?

July 17, 2010 - 2:37 am 2 Comments

I have full coverage insurance in the state of Massachusetts, my insurance policy runs out in about four days I was planning on switching to Progressive however someone just keyed the hell out of my 2008 Highlander, can I get the insurance to fix it and still switch to Progressive?

Your policy covers anything that happens before the policy runs out, so it makes no difference if you change insurance later. However–and this is important–be sure to report the claim to your current insurance company before the policy expires so they can’t say it happened after the expiration date. It’s a good idea to call the police and get it on file there too.

How do insurance companies handle a 50-50 accident claim?

July 17, 2010 - 2:31 am 3 Comments

I am curious how insurance companies pay on a 50-50 accident. Does this mean each company just pays for damage on its insured’s vehicle. Or does it mean the total damages from the accident (both vehicles) are added together and then split 50-50?

Try to deal it out of pocket, otherwise insurance rates will go up much more. You can check how quotes will change here – autoinsurance.noneto.com

What are the financial risks for starting a medical insurance claim company? Is it a good idea?

July 17, 2010 - 2:31 am 1 Comment

Will doctors be interested to pay my company to process their insurance companiy bills, so they will get paid more quickly?

Are you an expert in medical claims processing?

You understand the process? Have the programs to do this? Know someone you can hire that has this knowledge? You want to make collection calls? You want to negotiate with insurance companies? You are extremely detail oriented, keep extremely accurate records, and can find those records in a moments notice?

Yes, Doctors use that type of service, and are happy to pay a percentage of the billings for that kind of service.

If you’re in the USA, you’ll have to abide by all the HIPAA Regulations.

I have a client who has over 50 employees, that is in this business, and is very successful. But he is extremely knowledgeable, he has key employees who understand all the ins and outs of the insurance claims processes, he has invested heavily in technology through the years.

It can be a great business, but you need to have the ability to really take this over completely for the Doctor’s. You will be their EXPERT.

Insurance Claim?

My laptop which was bought three months ago from an agent was insured comprehensive policy. It was given for soft ware repairs to the agent last week. This along with his other properties were burgled. Can Someone tell me whether I could claim from the Insurance Company? 2. What is the obligation of the agent ?

You should claim it under YOUR insurance policy. You can’t hold the agent liable if someone broke into his home and stole some stuff. If you could, no insurance company would pay ANY theft claims because they would say that you were negligent and were the ultimate cause…which is ludicrous. It’s tough luck, but sometimes sh*t happens. Let your insurance company handle it.

Florida is a no fault state. After both insurance companies tenure up all claim money available what’s left?

July 17, 2010 - 2:30 am 1 Comment

We have no fault insurance in Florida and I was involved in an accident where some one ran into the back of my car resulting in injury. My insurance company paid its part and their insurance company has offered to pay its part, but it is not enough. I have hired a lawyer but even with what he is able to get it is not enough. All I am trying to get is reimbursement for medical costs and lost time costs. I am an independent contractor and have no recourse for workman’s comp.

If you have already gotten a lawyer then you have nothing else you can do. Good Luck.

The shelter told us two tortishell wouldn’t get along! Lol I have to laugh at that because as soon as we got them home they clicked! They were best buddies! grooming, sharing the litter tray, playfights, chasing each other&sleeping together

Puzzle had a bad case of Cat flu, so we had a old fan heater on in the laundry as it got very very cold and we didn’t want her to get any sicker&cat can die from cat flu if not treated early enough! we had safety switches, but when our house was built-it was not neccessary to put safety switches in the laundry. the fan heater faulted and caused the fire. we do not know whether there were safety switches installed or not. we had smoke alarm. only 1 of the 2 worked. Safety switches DO NOT work for ALL electrical FAULTS-the fire brigade told us that.

We loved our cats so much.Rest in Peace sweethearts aka Puzzle(18month)&Cameo (2yrs).

A week, but fires usually take three weeks, because you need the fire marshall report.

Do insurance claims follow you when you change insurance companies?

July 17, 2010 - 2:27 am 3 Comments

Filed a renters claim due to theft awhile back, now thinking about changing companies due to better rates. Will that claim count against me with my new insurance company?

Yes. All insurance companies subscribe to a service called the Comprehensive Loss Underwriting Exchange (CLUE). When the new company gets your application, they’ll pull a CLUE report. If you didn’t disclose the claim on your application, they’ll find out about it, and most likely will uprate or decline to write you.

Are insurance companies required to pay the taxes to replace items filed in a claim?

July 17, 2010 - 2:27 am 2 Comments

Example:

I put in a claim for 5 things lost at a total of $1000. The tax is 6%, so it’ll cost me $1060 out the door to replace the 5 items. Do insurance companies usually pay the $1000 or the $1060, and is this something that could be disputed?

Thanks.

The tax portion is your responsibility as insurance will only cover the replacement cost of the items lost, so they will only pay $1,000.

insurance claim?

July 17, 2010 - 2:21 am 7 Comments

i have tesco’s home insurance and have had to make a claim on my sofa, but i have lost the receipt and the company i got it from has gone into administration and is no longer operating as a business, plus the bank account i had at the time has been closed so i cannot provide a statement as proof of purchase. can the insurance company abandon my claim or do they have to proceed and either fix my sofa or give me money for a new one? also, there are screws sticking out of it which are a hazard to my son, i cant take them out because that would cause further damage to the sofa resulting in my claim being thrown in the bin. any ideas?
with regards to the screws, the can not be taken out due to them being screwed from inside the back of the sofa, the part which has come away from the main part of sofa, in order to remove them i would have to tear the material.

usually when you get contents coverage you insure for the replacement cost value of the items in your house, if your furniture has been damaged by a covered cause of loss within your policy, the insurance company will pay you the replacement cost value, minus your deductible and depreciation of a like item, unless your policy is scheduled, meaning you listed contents that value usually over $1,000, and that sofa was a scheduled item, if not then it would fall under the blanket coverage meaning items covered up to the total amount of coverage you insured for. Even though you do not have proof of how much it cost, it would not matter. They can dismiss the claim if it not a covered cause of loss. Hope this helped.
