July 17, 2010 - 2:21 am 3 Comments

my car was stolen in march 2008.my insurance company,lloyds-tsb,-churchill insurance, sent me a claim form, sent all documents required 3 weeks ago,and still no reply from the insurance company, does anybody no how long it takes to settle the claim, the car was stolen& insurance asserors told me it was a write off

Have you actually rang them to ask if they have recieved the paperwork?

They could be sat waiting for the paperwork and you waiting for them, you need to ring them, they wont rush if there not pushed into doing so, the longer the money is in their account the more interest they will incrue so there not going to rush

Ive found Churchill to be really good, but maybe thats because theyve never had to pay me anything lol

Was there any discrepancy at all regarding the theft, were they happy with all the facts and have they even agreed a figure with you regarding the car?

do insurance companies really pay their salespeople all that residual they claim?

July 17, 2010 - 2:21 am 3 Comments

I have been interviewed at a few different insurance companies, and they make some pretty outrageous claims. They say that your pay keeps going up the longer you work there because of all the residuals. It seemed a little too good to be true to me. But they seem legit…. huge companies…… great bbb standing…. and any other digging i can find. Anyone had any experience with this kinda thing?

Sure, they really do pay those residuals. But only as long as you keep working for them. But they DON’T tell you, that 95% of the people wash out the first year.

is there any insurance companies that will insure after a fire claim?

July 17, 2010 - 2:20 am 5 Comments

me and my family had a fire in july of 2008 and our homeowners insurance dropped us after the claim was over. now we are having major difficulty obtaining homeowners insurance. is there anybody that knows of a insurance company that takes people with these issues? we also live in indiana
the homeowners ins was dropped because of the fire claim.

There are very few companies that are willing to write insurance on your home after a major fire. And yes contrary to what mbrcatz is stating one large fire loss can result in your policy being non-renewed or cancelled.

My suggestion is that you contact a local independent insurance agent who will be able to do some research for you and obtain quotes with a couple of companies. Unfortunately these will probably be limited to your state FAIR Plan (a quasi-governmental / insurance industry pool which provides insurance to those shut out of the traditional market), a non-standard company or a high risk carrier such as a Lloyds of London subsidiary, etc. You can check this website for a list of agents in your area: http://www.iiaba.net/agentlocator/findagent.aspx. An independent agent will be able to find the best options / company for you but be prepared for a higher cost, more restrictive coverage and a higher deductible. Also make sure that all repairs from the fire damage have been completed.

One word of caution–do not let your mortgage company take care of this problem by force-placing the insurance on your home. Force-placed insurance (the type of insurance a bank or mortgage company purchases and then forces onto your account to make you comply with the mortgage agreement) usually only covers the bank’s interest (no liability coverage, no personal property or contents coverage, etc.) and is usually even more expensive than what you can obtain in the limited markets available to you.

Unfortunately you will be in this situation for at least 3 or up to 5 years from the date of the fire depending on your state rules.

I hope this information helps. Good Luck!

How long does it take insurance companies to settle a minor auto accident claim?

July 17, 2010 - 2:17 am 4 Comments

I was in a fender bender halloween night. The accident was "allegedly" my fault. The cops showed up got our info and we both reported to our insurance. I track my claim online and it says the case is closed but I have not recieved any info on if I have to pay or if I do not. It has been closed for over a month.
I am more worried about my deductible, not about paying directly for the other car.

You must be insured with Geico….sounds too familiar.

Has your insurance company provided you with an estimate of your damages? If so, it will show you what they are paying or not paying. Chances are if you are damages are over your deductible you’re paying your deductible. If the damages are under your deductible…you’re paying for the repairs yourself.
This means….you received the info on if you have to pay your deductible or not. The deductible applies period,. One more thing…your deductible only applies to YOUR car, not the other person.

If they haven’t given you an estimate, why haven’t you had it inspected?

How many people have been hurt fighting against health care reform and had their health insurance claim denied?

July 17, 2010 - 2:17 am 14 Comments

Wouldn’t that be very appropriate for someone to literally get physically hurt fighting for the health insurance companies only to find out that when they filed their claim to the insurance company their claim would be denied ? It’s not as far fetched as you might think.

Well at least with a private company, you can fire them if they don’t deliver on their promises. I was injured fighting for my country. I’m a 100% service-connected disabled veteran. My country promised that they would take care of my health if I risked my life for it. Now that I’m disabled I find that those promises are completely worthless. The VA delays, deflects, and denies treatment to disabled veterans. I have faced blanket denials, long delays, refusal to provide medication, treatment, or tests. Refusal to pay any and all health care costs in the private sector, which they promised would be covered. How much more degrading is it to give everything you have to your country, and then find that they have no intention of keeping the promises made? No, its not far-fetched at all. I have "free" health care. It is worse than having nothing. Unkept promises do more damage than promising nothing at all. At least when people know they are on their own they can make arrangements for their care. To be promised care that is never delivered keeps people clinging to hope until they die from neglect from those that they trusted.

How can these insurance companies like Geico claim to save you money on your car insurance when ?

when they are spending so much on stupid commercials

Mintman you are right!

GEICO spends over $500,000,000 a year on advertising!!

I use a small less known company that spends $25,000 on advertising and I pay 1/2 what I did with Geico. No Joke!!

I like there commercials but not there rates.

Insurance claim?

July 17, 2010 - 2:17 am 1 Comment

I am living in Sydney.. i had full comprehensive insurance and the insurance company wont pay my claim i wasnt driving and i had cover for other people… Who can i contact to get help besides a solicitor.

Well, you could apply directly to the court for a judicial summary of the contractual agreement. In other words, you approach the court to determine the legitamacy of your claim. It will cost less without an attorney; although, it may come to light that you have legal basis for obtaining legal counsel later on.

What you would ask of the court is to review the contractual agreement entered into for insurance…provide proof of payment for said coverage; a copy of the accident report; affidavits signed by those involved directly in the mishap (if possible) attesting to the events that led to your need of filing a claim against your insurance policy… and ask the court to validate the strength of the contract by review and commentary. If the court finds that your contract is valid and your claim is within the parameters of the agreement, they could order prompt payment pending further legal actions as a civil action or possibly criminal action if their order is not honored…it is known as ‘contempt of a court order’ if duly issued and served to the company in question.

Good luck to you in your ‘pro se’ endeavor… it may help you to attend some court sessions in order to prepare yourself to show proper form and decorum toward the judiciary factfinders. Court time is usually paid for in advance so be prepared to present all the materials in less than 12 – 15 minutes. It may require additional time to read a ‘copy’ of the insurance claim; however, that may or may not be charged for in lieu of the situation. Depends upon how the judge/s are compensated for their time.

Also, make sure that if you do decide to follow with a formal legal action against the company that you speak with someone of authority (perhaps a college professor at a law school) as to which court to make application. This is often determined by the monetary amount in question. Since the value of the claim is not specified above, I cannot offer a suggestion as to which court to approach. It could feasibly be the Chancery court…ask around.

Is it legal to claim on two building insurance companies for the same thing ?

July 17, 2010 - 2:12 am 7 Comments

We have building and contents insurance with two different providers, neither have ever been claimed on. Both are paid up to date. We need to claim for an emergency door lock repair. We’ve paid for both so can we claim from both ? (We are in UK, England).

If you claim from two different companies for the same thing then you are guilty of fraud. They all work together on claims so you can rest assured that you’ll get found out, and when you do, you’ll not only get your claims refused but you’ll be done for even attempting it !

how long should i give the insurance companies to make a claim?

July 17, 2010 - 2:12 am 1 Comment

I was hit my car and My question is how should i give the insurance companies to make a claim

Um, insurance companies don’t make claims. They handle claims.

If you don’t hear from the other guy’s insurance in a week, you’ll need to try to contact them yourself, or file the claim with your insurance.

Where does this false claim that the insurance companies are against healthcare reform come from?

On the bill’s central planks – limits on price discrimination, outlawing exclusions for pre-existing conditions, a mandate that employers insure their workers and a mandate that everyone hold insurance – insurers are on board. They object mostly that the penalty is too small for violating the individual mandate.

They were against a public option and spent a lot of money getting rid of that. They are on board now because they stand to make money with so many new customers.
