The only time your credit score is affected is each time a credit check is done, plus, any business that wants to do a credit check is required by federal law to ask for your permission and they must have your social security number in order to get the results on the right person. A friendly tip on insurance quotes, shop at the "one company" insurance agencies like state farm, allstate, nationwide, etc. stay away from independent insurance agents.

No, it doesn’t. It’s a "soft hit", just like credit card pre-approvals. Best way to get quotes is to go to a local, independent agent, so you only have to spew out the information ONCE, then let THEM chug away at getting you quotes with ten different companies.

Geico is good and others too. For a true comparison use the binder from your current insurnace so that the quotes you get are for the same levels on insurance that you have. Make sure you understand the coverage too.

Most brokers will give you a covernote over the counter. or if your going by phone or internet get them to fax it to you. there is no reason why any insurance company wouldnt do this.

and you dont need a covernote to collect a car or drive it, if you do get stopped by the police and they ask to see your details you get 7 days to produce certificates !

I wouldnt worry about it, i like half the uk have been driving for years and have never had to produce a document yet. Id have to get my insurance company to send me mine if i did get asked for it god only knows where it is.

That’s because he is in the high risk bracket. 17 to 25 year old males are the worst and that is a statistic fact

If he is a good boy and is likely to drive well when out with his mates then like others have said you insure it in you name with him as a named driver but if he stacks it you have to notify the insurers of your own car that you have a claim liability against you and that will affect your insurance cost

Now if he’s a bad lad or likely to be then sorry he will have to fork out the cost of the quotes

Unfortunately these "bad" young drivers and it’s not all of them but a minority are costing the industry dearly and we all in turn have to pay the price. Unless the authorities manage to improve the attitude of some of these drivers and make them more responsible then I feel that things will not change. Now that said some young drivers are very good and sticking the responsibility on them would not be fair and also it would not win election votes to heavily penalise young drivers(the bad ones)

I have theoretical solutions but what do I know. Raise the driving age, add refresher courses into the system, only allow low power first and grade up(like the HGV) repetative testing after a period on the road. I do feel that it about time someone stood up to improve the driving standard all roud but in particular to young drivers
