Republicans, a wholly owned subsiduary of the insurance industry Anthony Weiner, Democrat NY

July 17, 2010 - 4:40 am 16 Comments

U. S. House of Representatives Feb.24, 2010 Wednesday 10:00 am CSPAN
Representative Anthony Weiner, Democrat representing the state of New York, USA.
Health Care for Americans, Insurance Industry Bill is called HR4626 Removing Antitrust Exemption for Insurance Firms. HR4626 amends the 1945 McCarran-Ferguson Act.
Democrats are in favor of Bill HR 4626 because it would make the medical insurance industry be subject to the same antitrust laws that all other American businesses have to follow. If it passes it means that both the federal and state governments of America can regulate the fees and rates customers are charged for health care. All Americans would benefit by having more affordable health care. The insurance companies oppose the bill because they want to be allowed to increase rates consumers pay, such as Anthem Health Care Company increasing their rates 39 percent this year in California, while they are making record profits American consumers are going without health care or going broke trying to pay the outrageous fee raises. Republicans are opposed to the bill because they have been getting money from the Insurance companies to block any effort at regulation.
Democrat Nancy Pelosi of California, Democrat Peter DeFazio of Oregon, and Democrat John Garamendi, are also in favor of regulating the Insurance Industry so that American consumers will be able to afford health care.

MRIs: What do insurance companies usually pay and, if no insurance, how much you gotta pay in cash?

July 16, 2010 - 7:00 pm 4 Comments

I know that the MRI places can charge $15-1600 or more and that the insurance companies don’t pay that much. What do insurance companies pay?

And if you don’t have insurance, how much do you pay the MRI place?

Most health insurances WILL cover standard Radiographic tests such as CT scans, X-rays and MRI’s. As far as not having health insurance, most hospitals and maybe doctors offices will offer a financial aid for people who do not have health insurance. MRI’s are used for diagnostic purposes so, if you need one and your doctor has ordered one, then I don’t see why you would have a hard time getting your health insurance to cover it, or to get financial aid for one. If you can’t get financial aid to assist you, than the MRI place or hospital will be able to work a payment plan out with you. Good Luck!

Why do Limbaugh and others like him protect and defend Insurance Companies?

July 16, 2010 - 6:55 pm 8 Comments

They always say that Obama wants to blame the "Eeeevilll" insurance companies, and the ‘Eeeevilll’ rich people. When the truth is, many Insurance companies are anything but "Insurance" when it comes to protecting those who believed they were actually insured. And yes those presidents and CEO’s have become very wealthy. What do you call a company that you pay into for years and then find out you aren’t going to get what you paid for?………..A scam!

Because they have money and probably feel that nothing negative will effect them like the average American. Most Americans are not as financially secure as the Limbaughs, the Becks or the Hannitys. But most people don’t want to face facts because they think they will be on that level someday — they won’t, but they think they will! lol

What insurance companies have a good record or a bad record on Katrina payoffs?

July 16, 2010 - 6:55 pm 1 Comment

I have tried searching the internet for a report on good vs bad insurance companies, but I haven’t found anything. Do you have any info, or tell me where I can find it. Be specific please.

I cannot find anything but I found a few links that may help you. I expect that since the majority of insurance companies are still under investigation you will be hard pressed to find a list anywhere as of yet.

How much profit did insurance companies make in 2007 and 2008?

July 16, 2010 - 6:55 pm 3 Comments

Does anyone know how much profit did insurance companies make in 2007 and 2008? Or from where I can get this info.

I need these stats for a project I am working on and would like to thank you in advance.

Here’s for the health insurance companies for 2008:

"The top five earning insurance companies averaged profits of $1.56 billion in 2008 and reported spending an average of “more than 18 percent of their revenues on marketing, administration, and profits.” That year, CEO compensation for these companies ranged from $3 million to $24 million.”

There’s a chart at:

http://wonkroom.thinkprogress.org/2009/08/05/are-health-insurers-making-too-much-money/

For 2007:

"The study estimates that retained earnings, or surplus, for the entire industry was $687 billion at the end of 2007." (This is for all insurance companies)
