Where would an AmericanBornChineseMan want to live? China or USA?

July 17, 2010 - 10:41 pm 4 Comments

american has an old infrasture crumbling, ugly cities, old bridges that fall off and rusted, New York City is suppose to be the jewel of the USA in terms of beautiful skyline and it pales compared to Beijing or Shanghai or Hong Kong. American has Amtrak that puts along at 50 miles per hour, China has the bullet train that goes 300 miles per hour. China has the single needle expansion bridge, USA does not. What does USA do with all its money it claims to have? why then is it 13 trillion dollars in debt? If China is so poor, why does it have credit surplus in the bank and no debt? Yes, Chinese per capita earns $3000 a year and the American earns $35000 per capita. Americans appear to be rich in statistics but poor in realtiy, they owe everything, they dont’ own their car, they don’t own their house, everything is on loan. I lived in both countries and I am in paradise in china, USA is a hell hole with people to match, they like to have sex with a bunch of folks married or not, they don’t have shame, no humility, they believe in making the mighty dollar and keeping up with the Jones, even when it is all phony. They value "image" and believe "image is everything", to someone like me, a confucious and proud of it, i laugh at the americans and their brainwashed minds, they talk about tibet, human rights, and how communist gov in china is doing wrong to its people, they prove to me, they listen to american medias and through whitemans lenses, what a joke, you white people are so dumb, its laughable. We don’t need to be preached about western ways, we laugh at your values and your phony system of government. you say government by the people, and you don’t even know that your government answers to the mighty dollar, whoever has it, gets to make the calls. You want proof? OK, the reason that the Single Payer Systems is dead on arrival is because no senator will pass that idea because it means death to the corporate interest namely health insurance companies. As this example show, the citizens of american think they have a say in government when they are just pawns to be plaid by their own government. follow the money, that is the american way. go suckers. Wheres your high speed train, where is your jewel city, why do you still have bums and inner city strife? We commies are proud of our parade and we are successful at socialism with chinese characteristics. It is unique to us, and depends on morals and virtues and what confucious believes in. You christians and the society you make in america is evidently about sex, money, drugs, and phony freedoms, why have all the laws that restrict freedoms, you aint free, you just think you are because it has been said enough times, go jump in a lake, remember the park do not allow you to be there when the sun sets, free? don’t think so. go home and listen to real news, not your phony american media of propagandas. we laugh at you sir. go marines die some more in irag and afganistan, show big nose whitie we don’t what to listen to thier arrogant nonsense.

Paragraphs please, I can’t be bothered reading all that crap.

I’m not American, nor am I the United States #1 fan… But I can tell you this much: I’d much rather live in the United States than China. I went to China a couple of years ago, we went to Beijing & Xian (or however you spell it), the levels of poverty were extreme! I recall touring around the Forbidden City (amazing place by the way) in which I witnessed a disabled man wheeling himself around on a skate board with one arm. & Xian was ruined, I’d never experienced such a culture shock… It was literally a massive shanty town.

I can tell you this much buddy, there are many many many more Chinese living in the USA than there are Americans living in China. China must have the highest levels of emmigration in the world, there’s a good reason for that.

Recruiter wants to meet at doctor’s office to get medical records?

July 17, 2010 - 4:07 pm 4 Comments

My Marines recruiter said he needs to see my medical records in order to determine if I am eligible to join the Marines. I don’t really have a problem with this, however, he said that I can’t just bring him a copy of them; he said he has to meet me in person at the doctor’s office to get a copy because if the documents were altered in any way and something happened he could get in trouble. I don’t really have a problem meeting him at the doctor’s office, but he said he hasn’t been recruiting for very long and I think he may be mistaken because there are measures on forms in the military that put sole responsibility on the person enlisting. For example, on form 2807-2, you sign agreeing to the following statements:

*I certify the information on this form is true and complete to the best of my knowledge and belief, and no person has advised me to conceal or falsify any information about my physical and mental history.

*I further understand that I may be requested to provide medical documentation regarding issues within my medical history.

*I authorize any of the doctors, hospitals, clinics or insurance companies to furnish to the Department of Defense medical authority a complete transcript of my medical record for purposes of processing my application for military service.

Doesn’t agreeing to those statements put sole responsibility on me? I should be able to set up a time to meet him there, but I don’t know how long the waiting period will be. It would just be more convenient to bring them to him myself.

Sounds like he has never tried to get records from a civilian doctor. . . .I had to pay $10 and wait a week!

So he can go with you but you’ll/he’ll probably be making a second trip.

Would you stop shopping at Target b/c they don’t support our military?

July 17, 2010 - 4:01 pm 6 Comments

‘Recently we asked the local TARGET store to be a proud
sponsor of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall during our
spring recognition event..

We received the following reply
from the local TARGET management:
‘ Veterans do not meet our
area of giving. We only donate to the arts, social action
groups, gay & lesbian causes, and education.’

So I’m thinking, if the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall and
veterans in general, do not meet their donation criteria,
then something is really wrong at this TARGET store. We were
not asking for thousands of dollars, not even hundreds, just
a small sponsorship for a memorial remembrance.

As a follow-up, I E-mailed the TARGET U.S. Corporate
Headquarters and their response was the same.
That’s their
national policy.

Then I looked into the company further.
They will not allow
the Marines to collect for ‘Toys for Tots’ at any of their
stores. And during the recent Iraq deployment, they w ould
not allow families of employees who were called up for
active duty to continue their insurance coverage while
they were on military service. Then as I dig further,

TARGET
is a French-owned corporation.

Now, I’m thinking again. If TARGET cannot support American
Veterans, then why should my family and I support their
stores by spending our hard earned American dollars!

And,
have their profits sent to France ..

Without the American
Vets, where would
France be today?

‘They, most likely would be speaking German and trading in Deutsch Marks’

False.

Wasn’t it last Christmas that Target refused to let the Salvation Army ring their bells in front of their stores?

Target is well within their rights to support any charities they want. People like you and me are also free to patronize businesses we want and I won’t support a business that doesn’t support our troops.

Also, it’s not as if it was this one incident, they also won’t allow the Marines to run toys for tots collections at their stores. It seems Target has a pattern of not supporting our troops. I also find it odd they support gay lesbian groups but won’t support our military.

"What happened to businesses being unencumbered?"

It’s called the free market. I’m wondering if it still exists, or will exist much longer in this country, but you are free to shop or not shop wherever your like. If you choose not to patronize a store because of what they support, or what they don’t support, you have every right to do so.

What should USA do to British Petroleum over oil spill?

Apparently BP has no insurance.

Uncle Sugar is having to pick up the tab.
What should USA do? Possibilities include
-Sue them in the world court or appropriate jurisdiction.
-Gunboat Diplomacy: Send the Marines and nationalize as many of the assets of BP as necessary to cover the bill.
-POTUS summons Gordon Brown and gives him more DVDs from the White House gift shop.

First help them as much as we can to seal the well. Then have them help with the clean up. Then figure out what they owe US for the clean up and losses to industry and business such as commercial fishing.

Once that’s established we tack on another 50% for environmental impact and as a reminder to not let this happen again.

If they can’t pay with cash within a year then they should give US free oil and gas for about five years or until the debt is paid.

In the mean time we can’t let the enviro-nazis slow US down when it comes to tapping our own resources. You know they’re gonna milk this for all it’s worth!

Disability discrimination case questions?

July 17, 2010 - 3:56 pm 4 Comments

I’m about to file a complaint of discrimination against my employer. Have sent an email into the EEOC, asking for further info, will call on Monday when they open.

Situation is this (sorry it’s long, tried to stick to just the facts):

Hired as contract work, 20-30 hours a week, driving and setting up events for catering.

Worked for a month or two, was going great, boss was talking about getting me benefits, and having me be solely in charge of the driving. Added to insurance, all that.

Had a seizure on the job. Was checked out medically, no epilepsy, no diabetes, zero cause to think i’d have another. Fault was thought to be bad diet, low blood sugar that day. Implicitly explained that there’s no reason to think I would have another. 1 out of 10 people have a one-time seizure in their life, often for no reason to be found.

Instantly, taken off insurance and driving by employer.

For Nov and Dec, I was scheduled for a total of 5 hours, each month.

Boss has talked to me several times about how "not everyone can be hired" (as he has hired several more people after me, to do my job), and it’s unfortunate that they can’t give me more hours.

They had roughly 50 events scheduled, for a total of 400-500 hours available.

So, it is my belief that I have a pretty strong case. All this came about due to an accident, and there’s no grounds to think it will happen again. And yet, they haven’t terminated me, just tried to get me to quit by cutting my hours, etc. And apparently, he’s been telling other employees that I have asthma or something. I’m a U.S. Marine. I’m in great shape. No idea where he’s coming up with that.

I understand that it’s recommended to file a complaint, before a personal suit. Supposing they attempt to settle, or it does go to suit, what would YOU consider a reasonable amount?

Right now, I feel I’m due at least the value of the missed wages. Which is roughly $4,000. The fact that he’s telling my co-workers lies about my condition, I would think is a separate charge of slander. It’s hurting my reputation with the company, drastically. I’m thinking somewhere around $6-8000 or so, total. I’m no gold digger. I’m not after fortunes. It’s just been highly insulting, and difficult financially. And completely unjustified.

Should I talk to my boss before filing the complaint, or simply file? I doubt I’ll get an actual lawyer answering, but as an opinion purely, do you feel I’ve got a good chance at winning this?
mnwomen; I recommend you go read the laws on disability discrimination.

To quote the EEOC page: "Disability discrimination also occurs when a covered employer or other entity treats an applicant or employee less favorably because she has a history of a disability or because she is believed to have a physical or mental impairment that is not transitory (lasting or expected to last six months or less) and minor (even if she does not have such an impairment)."

I am specifically being treated less favorably, because I am BELIEVED to have a disability. Nothing says you have to actually have a disability. Just being treated differently, because they think you have one, is discrimination.

Thanks for an uneducated answer. Anyone else?
KW: My case is that my CONTRACT has been broken by my employer, on the terms that he THINKS I have epilepsy.

How did you miss the whole point?

And how is the employer in the right for cutting my hours, on false grounds? And in the right to tell my co-workers I have things wrong with me that are not true?

And in GA, one seizure does not constitute epilepsy, restrictions, or anything else.

Maybe I should just talk to a lawyer. You guys seem to be clueless.

I believe you have a case.

It doesn’t have to be proven that you have a disability or not. The fact that they’re changing your hours and job, because they think you have one, IS the issue.

MNwomen has no idea what she’s talking about.

Go for broke. Ask for a lot of money, then settle for less if offered.

What career, besides project management do you recommend from the following resume?

Moreover Target is a Minnesota based company, with no locations retail or otherwise outside the United States except for India. I’d explain further but instead I’ll just link to the Snopes page explaining why all of this is bull.
