Insurance Companies

I have been on the Claims Side of the Insurance industry for about 2 years. I work for one of the big ones handling Employment Practice claims. Lately I have been getting more interested in getting out of the office, staying in claims but doing more of the appraising, damage assesment side. Whether it be cars, airplaines, marine, fire, flood. I think I would really like to get into that. Any suggestions for companies I should look into?

Auto companies have high turn over on adjuster/appraisers, especially the substandard carriers. Many of them are willing to provide training for the right candidate. Progressive does a good job of training. You need to look in your area to find out who has claim offices in the area.

Absolutely not.

We are from Illinois and have planned a vacation in Destin for mid-May. Wondering what any local residents can tell us about how the oil spill is affecting the area right now and it’s anticipation in the next two weeks. I have read that a state of emergency has been declared for that area.

While we did have trip insurance, they company says since this is not an act of God, we are not allowed to cancel and expect a refund. They said to come down anyway since there is plenty else to do…well, I can do that here in Illinois without driving for two days and no beach…

This is not a good situtation for resident, tourism or marine life…

I did answer you privately but will go on record for any one reading your question and wants to know the answer.
So far the Florida beaches are fine even Pensacola. Here in Destin water is green and beautiful. Last night the news stated that the shores of Alabama would be hit within 48 hours and the smell was being carried by the wind. News reports are stating that the Panhandle will get sheen by the end of the week.
I am not going to surmise anything until it gets here.

I am going to Recruit Training in September, I share an apartment with my brother and we half the rent, so when I go to Boot Camp, I don’t want to leave him hanging but I hear that while you’re enlisted in the Marines, you can’t have people in charge of your funds. My brother was in the National Guard and they let my mom use his bank account, but from what I’ve gathered, the Marines won’t let anyone touch your money. I also have car payment, and insurance that will need to be paid. Do I get deferments from the bank and landlord and insurance company? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Do not expect to have any money for bills until you graduate.

You need to take care of your personal crap before you leave. Do whatever you have to do to ensure that you don’t get behind in payments. You have plenty of time to get him a new room mate.

Your personal life is not the USMC’s concern until you have graduated, so you better take care of your bills.

I am getting a fair amount of hits on my Career Builder resume links, but no discernible hits from the others, except one interview that I was not too motivated about. Most employers contacting me are from sales companies, especially insurance. I’m not interested in sales- unless I’m running my own business. I am looking for a one-on-one with someone who can help me get on track. I am trying to relocate and can’t seem to get a good hook on a new job.

American has Amtrak that puts along at 50 miles per hour, China has the bullet train that goes 300 miles per hour. China has the single needle expansion bridge, USA does not. What does USA do with all its money it claims to have? why then is it 13 trillion dollars in debt? If China is so poor, why does it have credit surplus in the bank and no debt? Yes, Chinese per capita earns $3000 a year and the American earns $35000 per capita. Your tirade should contain some pretty heavy duty citations for reference, and if you love China so much, move there.

My Marines recruiter said he needs to see my medical records in order to determine if I am eligible to join the Marines. I don’t really have a problem with this, however, he said that I can’t just bring him a copy of them; he said he has to meet me in person at the doctor’s office to get a copy because if the documents were altered in any way and something happened he could get in trouble. I don’t really have a problem meeting him at the doctor’s office, but he said he hasn’t been recruiting for very long and I think he may be mistaken because there are measures on forms in the military that put sole responsibility on the person enlisting. For example, on form 2807-2, you sign agreeing to the following statements:

*I certify the information on this form is true and complete to the best of my knowledge and belief, and no person has advised me to conceal or falsify any information about my physical and mental history.

*I further understand that I may be requested to provide medical documentation regarding issues within my medical history.

*I authorize any of the doctors, hospitals, clinics or insurance companies to furnish to the Department of Defense medical authority a complete transcript of my medical record for purposes of processing my application for military service.

Doesn’t agreeing to those statements put sole responsibility on me? I should be able to set up a time to meet him there, but I don’t know how long the waiting period will be. It would just be more convenient to bring them to him myself.

This would just be the ones taking more than $1 Million per year in total compensation (options and retirement and golden parachutes included).

These would be clean professional jobs, not in front of their wives and kids, simple double taps behind the ear, quiet, not messy, not causing any public disturbance.

It’s obvious that the government is in bed with these people. Barney Frank, the Congressman for Tinky Winky, and Chris Dodd, and the White House, might just as well be banks themselves. So USA government = The Banks, K Street Rules.

OK fine, but what about direct action by the People, or by some people. If Washington is helpless, that does not mean that every living person in the universe is helpless.

After 500 or maybe 5000 executives wound up dead, shot in the head, some still in the red, some not, there could be some Receipt of Message on Wall Street and at the Big Banks.

The Board and the compensation committees would still try to press the $25 Million per year salaries on the top executives, but they would say, "Heck no! I’m not taking more than $1 Million per year — much too dangerous — my wife won’t let me, my life insurance company will cancel my policy — I’m not doing it"

And then we would get tiresome papers from the CATO people and from University of Chicago about how a man has absolutely no incentive to do a job and do it well if he’s paid only $1 Million per year for his work.

It wouldn’t take more than 500 or 1000 to get the message through. A dozen retired marine snipers could get the job done.

The greatest good for the greatest number suggests that when government is weak as water, and Tinky just does tinky and a little winky at the Banks, it would be OK morally to take direct action.

If Teddy Roosevelt had come on the scene just as Lehman Bros was going under 500 Executives would have gone to jail and 90% of the NYC Financial Services industry would have been closed down never to return.

This month the big banks who are no longer under TARP will go right back to their bad old ways and pay $10 million compensation and more to their execs. Nobody has gone to jail except Bernie Madoff, and his Ponzi scheme had little to do with the collapse of the US economy. AIG has taken $389 Billion in TARP funds. A lot of that money will pay for retirement and medical insurance for their senior executives.

The Congress = The Banks.

It is a case of reverse treason.

The government (with the banks) has declared war on the people.

If there’s going to be action it won’t come from Tinky Winky, or Chris Dodd or even from Sen. Schumer. It will have to come from elsewhere.

I can’t imagine too many people caring what happens to them. Considering the number of people who’s lives were ruined, times the years of hardship for each ripped-off person.

Each person on earth is equal. I’m curious to know how other people feel about this topic.

I recently received an e-mail from my Service Officer, a retired United States Marine, about President Obama’s plan to have United States Veterans pay the Veteran’s Administration (VA) back for medical treatment they receive.

The plan wouldn’t bill the veteran directly, but would instead bill their private insurance company. In return, the veteran’s insurance rates would go up, making them pay for the wounds they received when going into battle for the United States, and, depending upon insurance company, they would have to pay deductibles.

Wasn’t the Veteran’s Administration formed to take care of these veterans in the first place? If this plan goes through, wouldn’t it make more sense for the veterans to just skip over the VA and go straight to a private clinic, since they have to pay their insurance anyway? And what about those veterans who can’t afford private insurance, so they only have VA Medical?

I want to know what others think of this, if I’m missing anything, and what the details are. I may be receiving some of these benefits soon,a s I can’t afford private insurance and healthcare, and I would like some answers.
@ PJ – The point isn’t about the insurance companies – it’s about the veterans having to pay the insurance comany rather than having the VA pay.

when i was getting operations and treatment back in 1975 they always asked if i had private insurance, and if i did they would send a bill to them for your insurance to cover whatever would be eligible for them to pay for, the Vets covers the rest……..!

if you don’t have insurance, no problem, they got ya covered all the way~!!!

it has been like this for a very long time, Obama just wants people that DO have private insurance to use it first before they use up all of Vets Hospitals resources~!

a lot of Vets just use Vets Hospital and let them pay for it all, even if they have Blue Cross and Blue Shield~!

The Enron scandal, failing insurance companies, the spreading of expensive military forces ALL OVER THE WORLD, sending billions of dollars , (borrowed dollars at that) all over the world to help other countries, the big corporations sending as many manufacturing jobs to China, Vietnam, Japan, Mexico as they can which put your next door neighbor and you put of work …..Is not this a recipe for imminent failure? Returning veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan plus the Vietnam Vets are treated as the "black sheep" when it comes to health care and mental help. Many of the homeless are war veterans. I, like them was brainwashed to feel superior to all others wen in fact I was a pawn on the chess board for the Military Industrial Complex, Oil Companies, and the Corporations that
see dollar signs in going to war. PEOPLE ARE GETTING RICH FROM THE SALE OF WEAPONS BUT ARE YOU ARE OR YOUR FAMILY ONE OF THEM? For me, my family is made of foot Soldiers, Sailors and Marines, PLUS the working poor who get a BIG piece of their paycheck eaten each week to pay for the salaries of the "Promise anything, do nothing" people in the White-house and House of so-called "Representatives" and Senate. Does what they do Represent your wishes or does it represent the banks, Chinese manufacturers, and Insurance companies? Did not our "Representatives" allow the mortgage companies and Insurance companies and GW Bush and Dick Chenny to do what they have done? Will you be surprised to see a President in the next year come on TV and say that the Great United States of America will disband in 24 hours and the Congress will be dismissed? That every state will be one it’s own and a separate country? The greed of American Corporations WILL have even more dire economic consequences. What products on Walmart, Kmart, Sears, Dollar General, Dollar Store shelves are made in America? Name one other than the chicken, some meat and a few vegetables. Look at the labels in your shoes and all your clothes, on your TV on your ball point pen, kids toys etc and say with a straight face that our economy is sound.

The way I look at it … anything is possible although nothing is guaranteed anymore, especially in this lifetime.

Yet the more I sit back and read about the failing economy, the falling stock market, the rising oil prices and the alarming rate of unemployed people who are damn near homeless and starving … I grow concerned for this ‘once great’ country.

Never has it been the land of the free as everyone is taught and led to believe, especially with all costs rising, like food, shelter and fuel not to mention taxes. In the end we all pay something to someone and I know that it’s not the middle class, the working class or the poor that is benefiting from it. Instead it’s the fat cats sitting high on the hog and sneering down their noses at those that they feel are beneath them.

In the end I see grave times falling upon the US, yet it shows signs of being worse then the very first Stock Market Crash and Great Depression. I’m not sure who I feel sorry for the most, those who will cause the total downfall of the US or those who will feel it the worst, like the poor and the working classes that struggle to make it each month.
