Profit should never be involved with health care. If the goal is to make money, then your well being is secondary and you will never get the best care possible.
Its sad that any person here is at risk of losing their home and savings if they get sick. And you’re fooling yourself if you think you have good coverage and you’ll be just fine.

Of course not. It's the top priority of all private enterprises. For a good example of how well this works, look at how efficient and fiscally responsible the government agencies are when profit is a non-issue.

Problems with a lot of things in American life, is the fact that the people running things wants to make every thing into a get rich quick scheme to milk as much cash out of people as they can without providing anything in return.
And yes, of course profit and providing the best quality service will sometimes conflict as it does in many industries.

Businesses do market research to determine what brings their customers to them, and if it isn’t quality of service, they usually do another to see if they can get away with reducing quality to increase profit.

Not the big ones. They have powerful lobbies and will get perks from their pet congressmen and women to keep them afloat and in the money. It's always about the money. The consumer and tax payer, as always, pays the price.

They are in business and profits are the motive. Maybe they should all be non-profit orgs. But I don't know if that would have to be approved by the government. Private companies tend to run things better that government so I would rather they figure out a way to keep the health plan in the private sector with some competition to drive down the price and up the efficiency. Government has never been very efficient.

Don’t be silly. The government can’t give you good health care. They can barely give you a freaking driver’s license.

Every efficient organization must earn a profit. It’s ok for the government to impose some regulations to ensure ethical business practices, but the fact remains… profit is the motivation to make things happen.
