We pay the most for healthcare and we are the only country that lets the insurance companies run the show, is?
there any other way to interpret this
Yes you are the only country to do this.
First of all, Obama is not going to bring in universal healthcare. He wants to make insurance more available to all.
Second, of course universal health-cover sucks. That is why we in Western Europe have it. We think, hmm, our healthcare system sucks. I know, lets keep it. I guess that is the same with Japan and Canada as well.
FACT – the USA spends more on healthcare PER PERSON than any other nation on the planet.
FACT – the US has higher death rates for kids aged under five than western European countries with universal health coverage.
That means that a dead American four year old would have had a better chance of life if they were born in Canada, France, Cuba, Germany, Japan etc, all of which have universal health coverage.

We pay the most? It’s either pay for my own directly, or pay for everybody’s through my taxes. The system is flawed right now, but it is the right system. We need to fix the one we have, not create another one.

It’s called Big Business and many Americans, as evident by what I see in Y!A, are willing to die to defend it.

We pay the most for health care because we have the best health care in the world. The reason insurance companies is so high and doctor fees so high is because of useless law suits. The health care is not the problem, the insurance is not the problem….lawsuits is the problem.

YES:
We are a capitalist society in a free market, the need for healthcare comes along -> so Dr’s train to be Dr’s -> then technology comes along and the cost of providing quality care increases above what the normal person can pay -> so insurance companies arise from the free market to offer a service which allows us to paya monthly premium and obtain healthcare whenever we need it for only a small fraction of the cost with a co-pay.
I pay 98$ through my company for insurance for me my wife and my newborn daughter, frankly its the greatest value of any service I have ever payed for. Ive had surgeries, car accidetns, motorcycle accidents, and ti only costs me 50$ each time.
Its amazing how well the free market works.
@"Yep your right all the sick died waiting on waiting list…."
LOL!
