Ever heard of Kentucky Farm Bureau Insurance?

Some lady from kentucky backed into my car and caused about four hundred dollars damage. She left the scene, and admitted to the state police that she left the scene. My wife was behind her, leaving our subdivision, when the lady started to go out onto the main road, stopped because she saw she couldn’t make it out, put the car in reverse, hit my car, then pulled out into traffic. Stupidly, she returned to her parents home in my subdivision, where the state police found her. Well, the accident happened in Florida, and her insurance company, kentucky farm bureau, can’t get in touch with her. I have been talking to KFB, and sent them the police report, but they refuse to pay the damages, until they get in touch with her. is that the way insurance is supposed to be? I have the accident report that cleary shows she hit and damaged the car, and admitted that she may have backed into my car. why won’t they pay me?
Do they think I am trying to rip them off? Small Claims Court?

Here is the address for the Commissioner: Kentucky Department of Insurance, P.O. Box 517, Frankfort, KY. 40602. I could not find a phone number, but you could write a letter stating the issue with the insurance company you are experiencing problems with.

To answer the initial question, yes I have Kentucky Farm Bureau Insurance and absolutely love them. They are fantastic to work with from my standpoint although I’ve never had to file a claim — but when it comes to new policies and billing they’re great.

I find it pretty logical that KFB will not pay for damages until reaching her. It could be identity theft for all they know — or perhaps you forged the documents you sent them. Or maybe she’s not even insured on the vehicle she was driving (or hasn’t paid her bill). As mentioned it will all be settled in due time. If she lives in your subdivision go knock on the door and ask her to call KFB, or chat with her parents — it’s worth a shot.

In the mean time you can talk to your insurance provider. A lot of times in similar situations you can get your insurance to cover damages, then they will turn around and sue KFB to get their money back.
