What makes you think insurance companies that lose money because of the healthcare bill won’t make up for it?

by raising premiums on homeowner’s policies, car insurance, and life insurance?
Most insurance companies don’t just offer health insurance.
Insurance companies are already jacking up the rates with health care being passed. Insurance companies have never needed a reason to raise rates other than greed.

The insurance companies don’t think they’ll lose money – they expect to gain it on picking up that mostly uninsured 18-25 year old market.
Also – not very many companies work in all those areas of insurance. The major Health carriers are not in homeowner and car insurance.

The purpose of the health care drive is ultimately to pass most of the health care money through racketeer politician hands so the can skin off a lot of it for for their pet projects and pork barrels.
Insurance companies will just reduce coverage until whatever they get fits the service offered.

So….. people complain that premiums are too high, you pass reform which drives up their costs, and then they raise premiums more, and then the government says "SEE? They won’t stop gouging you"
It’s all a sham designed to take over the industry, I promise you.

Most health insurance companies do only offer health insurance – go try to get blue cross to insure your car they’ll laugh at you, and most states actually set the rates for auto and home insurance. Life insurance is a very competitive market, if you ever took economics you’d know that the consumer has more control over the price in competive markets than producers.

Hmm…seems consumer protection is needed and who better than the government to police it. My state although poor has one of the best consumer protection agencies.
Sorry, but your reasoning does not make sense….do you really condone being ripped off by health insurance companies? The insurance company I use for car insurance and homeowner insurance does NOT provide health insurance.

That is not what has happened aborad when these reforms have been put into place.
It surprises me that so many Americans seem not to be aware about Obama’s healthcare plans [a]. During the election, he campaigned for these changes stating that he felt it was unfair to have a system where insurance companies try to escape paying claims and was elected to bring in changes [b].
First of all, too many people do not know that Obama wants to make insurance more available to all. His system is similar to that which works in Holland, Taiwan [c] and Switzerland. It works there and private healthcare companies provide most the insurance to the people there.
FACT – the USA spends more on healthcare PER PERSON than any other nation on the planet [d].
FACT – insurance companies admit that they push up costs, buy politicians and do not pay out for many claims when they should [e].
FACT – the US has higher death rates for kids aged under five than western European countries with universal health coverage [f].
That means that a dead American four year old would have had a better chance of life if they were born in Canada, France, the Netherlands, Cuba, Switzerland, Germany, Japan etc, all of which have universal health coverage. And no western European nation with universal healthcare has moved away from it. And the sad thing is, that the insurance companies have spent loads of money to fight these reforms [g] and loads of politicians are taking the thirty pieces of silver from them to fight the reforms, rather than fight for the health of the American people.
Remember, I back my facts up with evidence. Those who say they are wrong tend not to. If they are wrong, e-mail me with proof and let me know.
