I went to an interview today for an insurance company and practically was offered the job on the spot, but how do i know he wasnt just selling me the job also?
I am currentley an insurance agent. It has its ups and downs, believe the other people there will be alot of stress but the money can be good if you work hard at it. Also listen to the veterans and follow the system. It will not be easy so don’t think you are going to get an easy ride. If you work hard and you are a people person 60K plus first year is easy.

It is a nice training ground for a first sales job! Most people don’t do that well in insurance sales, but those who do can do very well.

I started out as a salesman or agent in the insurance business when I got out of school. Now I own an insurance agency, with 20 people working for me. It’s like anything else in life, if you work hard and love what you do, then you will succeed. Good Luck…

It’s a stressful job. I work for an independent agency and the reps talk all the time about problem customers, terrible customer service from this or that company, etc. etc. And of course the independent reps who have absolutely nothing to do with the way the actual insurance companies process claims or whatever all the flack when something goes wrong. Make sure they pay you well; otherwise, it might not be worth the headaches and ulcers you’ll get.

Can you sell? If you can sell, selling insurance is a great job. If you can’t sell, or you’re not willing to put in massive hours, pass on the job.
It’s probably straight commission – most insurance sales jobs are. That means, the company has NOTHING to lose by hiring you – if you don’t sell, they don’t pay you. They can offer the job to every blessed applicant, no skin off their back!

There’s a lot of money to be made selling insurance if you’re a good salesman. They hire a lot of people because insurance isn’t for everyone and there is a lot of turnover. If it was for selling in the financial arena, me personally, I’d avoid that but if not, go for it, it might be a good fit for you.
