Does any one know an auto insurance company that basically will just keep me legal. I really can’t spend that much on it. A lot of the cheap companies I heard of do not operate in NJ.
Several methods you may think about.Like do the online quote yourself or call your local insurance agent for their help,it is up to you.

Just about any company will write you the legal limits, but bear in mind that most states’ legal limits are WAY too low for decent protection. NJ’s required limits are 15,000 per person/30,000 per accident for injury and 5000 for property damage, but those amounts wouldn’t last more than a day or so in a serious accident, and $5000 wouldn’t replace my ‘08 sedan if you totaled it.
An interesting note–if an agent sells you these minimum limits, you can’t sue him/her for not providing better coverage, BUT you’d still be legally responsible for the difference.
At 18, you’re still in the highest rate group for insurance, so it’s not going to be cheap wherever you go. All you can do is get out the Yellow Pages and find the best premium
