Do you think one day health insurance companies will be told they are out of business in USA?

do you think such a thing could ever happen, give the amount of profits that are at stake?

do you think such a thing could happen within the next 25 years? how about within 50 years?

If they pass, no when, the public option the death knell for insurance companies will sound clearly. There is no way they can compete with the government at first because the government has our tax dollars to steal.

One can only hope against hope that this happens soon. Realistically, though, they have too much power in governement to be done away with.

That’s the goal of the left, destroy as much private sector as possible. It could very well happen in 25 or 50 years. This is because the left has convinced an increasing number of the population that private sector is evil.

These people that believe big insurance companies are evil do not see the irony though. They complain about these companies making "profits", you know to have reserves to pay all the claims and settlements they have….but have no problem with the government proposing plans that end up costing 10 times what they first state they will cost.

The government has bankrupted social security, medicare and these people are jumping up and down to have the same government completely take over their health care.

    It’s crazy.

    Not even remotely possible.

And even if the health insurance markets start looking unprofitable, you’ll just see several companies switch to underwriting something else until the supply and demand once again balance out at a new, profitable equilibrium price.

I doubt they will ever be put out of business. But the structure of health insurance will have to change dramatically. There will come a point where some companies will price themselves out of the market. And if our Government is smart (snicker) they won’t extend a huge unproductive bailout.

And no more of this "too big to fail." We got rooked on this with AIG. They got a huge bailout package, reaped huge profits, and still won’t lend money to small businesses.

Not the big ones. They have powerful lobbies and will get perks from their pet congressmen and women to keep them afloat and in the money. It’s always about the money. The consumer and tax payer, as always, pays the price.
