    it is an absolute shame that so few in this country actually have enough brains to know when the government is over stepping its boundaries…and even more of a shame to say that so many people in this country are utter morons when it comes to life…noone else one this planet is entitled to my, nor your, labor…noone. yet, we have pieces of who dont even work nor try being feed and clothed by MY LABOR. So much for MY freedom.

  14. PoliticalSkeptic Says:

    @helltrackrider …
    @helltrackrider contd….. general welfare of the country as being a provider of education or health care. Like Jefferson’s free University he created.
    Now Police department is a service, Fire department is a service, department of transportation is a service. In indiana Police dept and fire dept are billing the citizens now because they can’t get funding through taxes because they won’t raise them. We can have personal militias for police which would also save money. Or volunteer firemen.

    America today consist of 50% placid people who are inept, 40% curious people as to which way to go and 10% highly off people because they know for a fact that government, and government alone has the People in this country through many and many years of growth and authoritarian legislation; healthcare would be another invasion into my privacy…illegal for a government in a “Free” land.

  16. PoliticalSkeptic Says:

    @helltrackrider

    @helltrackrider

    there are some govt programs at a loss. To correct this we would have to either eliminate them. Or tax everyone fairly. Right now there is a cap on some income brackets. So the more you make the less you put in.

    Healthcare is not a right because right now that is the way it is structured. You opinion may be that it should not be a right and you are entitled to that. This is not a fact. Some people interpret the government being responsible for the general welfare of contd.

  17. PoliticalSkeptic Says:

    @helltrackrider…. …
    @helltrackrider…..contd… VA hostpitals. Because those Doctors are government employees. So the doctors work for the government and they are insured by the government through Tricare. That is the only instance where someone can suggest the government getting involved. Right now there are many industries which get private contracts through the government and the government does not dictate how they can conduct their work.

  18. PoliticalSkeptic Says:

    @helltrackrider

    ” …
    @helltrackrider

    “Having government in charge of private contracts is absurd…medical payments being a private contract between you and your doctor…”

    the false premise is that your contract is between YOU and your doctor. Right now your contract is between YOU and a private insurance bureaucrat who is in this for the profit. Remove the profit incentive and possibly you will have control. There is NO suggestion that the government should control this. Unless you are talking about contd….

  19. 74mackd Says:

    And replace them …
    And replace them with who? The GOP are just as corrupt as the Dems. FOX , CNN, and MSNBC are all corupt. The last Administration had countless acts of wrong doing, as did the Administration before that, and before that, so on, so on. So, who would you like to see take over this corrupt government.

  20. 74mackd Says:

    Why was this …
    Why was this comment marked “Spam”?

  21. helltrackrider Says:

    @74mackd

    @74mackd

    Freedom…under todays tyrannical government?…not a lick. you cannot do one thing in this country anymore without the federal or local government having some law or statute claiming jurisdiction to your action…wanna smoke pot?…tough shit….wanna carry a gun for protection?…tough shit…wanna add on to you driveway because you bought another car?…tough shit…wanna cut a tree down?…tough shit.

  22. tedlinko Says:

    Not at all. I …
    Not at all. I guess if one believes, as you seem to, that only people of economic means should be entitled to treatment when they get ill, then your statement makes sense. To me, that stance is outrageous.

    Your comparison to cosmetic surgery is simply idiotic — cosmetic surgery is — in many cases — purely elective. So yes, free market principles can work quite well. If you’ve got cancer — or symptoms that “could” indicate cancer,, only a moron would argue that treatment is elective.

  23. 74mackd Says:

    How much freedom do …
    How much freedom do we have in our realm? You have a list a doctors who you can see, your network. If you go outside that network, you may have to foot the entire bill. We have a bureaucrat telling you which procedures you may have, the health insurance company. What freedom do you actually have?

  24. 74mackd Says:

    We aren’t talking …
    We aren’t talking about a cell phone plane or auto repairs, we are talking about people. Its morally wrong to charge someone for health. Especially when we throw so much money at the wealthy and politically connected.

  25. mickeysears Says:

    Well!!!!!!

    Well!!!!!!

    Finally a Democrat willing to say the obvious. To make a government enforced mandate to buy a product. And to gaurantee 30 million extra policy holders even if the government has to pick up the tab only works to enrich the insurance companies. Now there are 1,300 insurance companies in the US. But not all of these companies will get the benefit. Only the politically connected larger companies will benefit while they let the smaller ones go under.
    THIS IS NOT CAPITALISM!!!!!
